I plan to start doing prints of some of the images here and offering them for sale. This involves making higher resolution versions. With Flash 10 I am able to do over 4000×4000 pixel bitmaps natively, and a lot bigger if I start tiling, not to mention save them natively. I’ve got some test prints going now and should have them in hand in the next day or two. At 300 dpi, 4000 pixels should be good for 13-14 inches. I’m pushing it up to 24 inches – still over 150 dpi, which is what people say is minimum for print. If that looks like crap, I’ll have to tile.
In the mean time, I’d like to guage the interest in this, which images people might be interested in having prints of, and what size would be desirable.
I’ll rather have the code.
One reason to buy the prints will be to support your work, and that’s ok, I really like what you do, but the point is I don’t like this images so much as to decorate my house with them.
I think maybe you can release the code with some license stating that profit made from selling prints produced with that code should be shared with you: ¡There you have! That’s your goldmine and I’ll have my beautiful images.
Cheers!
MartÃn.
I think printing is a great idea, but stick w/ 300 dpi. I’ve been trying to get tiling setup w/ AIR as I said before, but my initiatives have been put on hold for a while. I think it’ll be worth it in the long run to not be confined.
Can’t say for sure I’d buy one until I see price / paper specs and available works, but I have some definite interest. I was looking at this printer, It wouldn’t hurt opening an Etsy store:)
how will you be doing the prints? are there nice online services for this to make ordering them from you easy? so far my faves for some reason have been those boxes with text. not too fancy but it resonates with me for some reason 🙂
have you done any work with processing?
